“汉语桥”夏令营（5）｜一段语言与文化的沉浸之旅

Located in the southernmost part of China, Hainan Island is a tropical paradise renowned for its stunning beaches, rich cultural heritage, and vibrant economy. 

海南岛位于中国最南端，是一座享有“热带天堂”美誉的美丽岛屿，以迷人的海滩、丰富的文化遗产和蓬勃发展的经济而闻名。

My name is Esmary Thisa Kamunda (赵美丽), as a teacher of Chinese language and culture, I was thrilled to spend two weeks at Hainan University "Chinese Bridge" Summer Camp (from the 13th to the 26th of April), immersing myself in the local way of life and exploring the island's many wonders.

我叫Esmary Thisa Kamunda （中文名：赵美丽），作为一名中文教师，我非常荣幸能于4月13日至26日，参加在海南大学举办的“汉语桥”夏令营。在这两周里，我深度体验了当地的生活方式，探访了岛上的许多迷人之处，这次旅程令我终生难忘。

Upon arrival, I was struck by Hainan's serene beauty and warm hospitality. Some people refer to Hainan as Hawaii because of its characteristics. My time at Hainan University was filled with exciting experiences, from studying Chinese language and culture to mastering traditional calligraphy, painting, and fan-making techniques. Engaging Chinese speaking and listening lessons helped me improve my language skills.

初到海南，我便被这里宁静秀丽的自然风光和人们的热情好客所打动。由于地理与气候条件相似，有人称海南为“东方夏威夷”。在海南大学期间，我参加了丰富多彩的学习和实践活动，从中文课程、中华文化讲座，到书法、国画和手工团扇制作等传统技艺的学习，每一天都充满了新鲜与惊喜。沉浸式的中文听说训练显著提升了我的语言能力。

Some highlights of my trip included visiting the marine museum, Wenchang Spacecraft Launch Site, Wenchang coconut plantations, Xinglong Coffee Park, Qi Lou Old Street and exploration of the International Education in Li'An. I also savored the local cuisine, including the famous Wenchang chicken and the Jiayi duck.

此次夏令营的亮点之一是实地参观。我们走访了海南热带海洋馆、文昌航天发射中心、文昌椰子种植园、兴隆咖啡谷、骑楼老街，还深入了解了海南陵水黎安国际教育创新试验区的发展情况。在旅途中，我也品尝了地道的海南美食，比如著名的文昌鸡和嘉积鸭，令人回味无穷。

Hainan's rich cultural heritage was palpable throughout my journey. I was fascinated by the intricate strokes of Chinese calligraphy and the delicate art of fan-making. These experiences deepened my appreciation for Chinese culture. I also tried pottery making which seemed very easy but when given the task it proved to be really challenging.

海南的文化底蕴无处不在，尤其是书法的精妙笔法与团扇制作的细腻工艺，都让我深深着迷，进一步加深了我对中华文化的敬意与热爱。我还尝试了陶艺制作，这项工艺看似简单，实际操作起来却颇具挑战，但正是这种“做中学”的过程，让我收获良多。

Through interactive lessons and conversations with locals, I improved my Chinese language skills. I remember my first time ordering food in the school canteen, I ate a very spicy meal because I did not quite understand when they asked if I wanted spicy or not. This experience boosted my confidence in communicating in Chinese language. It was also a great opportunity to mix and mingle with other foreign students who were also attending the summer camp.

与本地人的互动和沉浸式学习让我逐渐提升了中文交流的信心。我记得第一次在食堂点餐时，由于没听懂“要不要辣”，结果点了一道超级辣的菜。这次小插曲虽然辣得我眼泪直流，但也成了我学习中文的一个“高光时刻”，让我对自己更有信心，也更愿意主动用中文表达。

During the lectures I also learnt that Hainan is being transformed into a free trade port to attract foreign investment. It is also investing in transportation infrastructure like roads, railways etc to support economic growth. And also the development of the Jiangdong New Area as a major economic hub with focus on industries like tourism.

除了语言与文化，我在课程中还了解到，海南正在加快建设自由贸易港，吸引外资，推动旅游、交通等多个产业的发展。例如，江东新区正被打造为新的经济核心区，将重点发展旅游、教育、科技等产业，这让我对海南的未来充满期待。

Hainan's natural beauty left me in awe. From the stunning coastline to the lush coconut plantations, each scenic spot offered a unique perspective on the island's charm. 

海南的自然风光更是美不胜收。从海岸线的碧海蓝天，到椰林成片的田园风光，每一处都展现出这座岛屿独特的魅力。

My two-week adventure in Hainan was transformative. I gained valuable insights into Chinese culture, improved my language skills, and explored the island's breathtaking landscapes. I highly recommend Hainan to anyone seeking cultural immersion and natural beauty.This experience has inspired me to continue exploring China's diverse cultures and landscapes.

这次为期两周的海南之旅让我受益匪浅，不仅提升了中文水平，也让我对中国文化有了更深刻的理解，并亲身感受了海南的自然之美。我由衷地推荐海南给任何一位渴望深入了解中国、体验文化沉浸与自然魅力的朋友。
