“走进中医，走近梦想”：Westridge高中参观中医中心

The group arrived at the centre promptly at 14:00 hours and was warmly welcomed by Yan Ping Laoshi and Xiao Zhiqiang, Director of the China-Zimbabwe Traditional Chinese Medicine Center and the dedicated staff of the Traditional Medicine Centre. The visit offered the students a rare opportunity to engage with the practical aspects of traditional Chinese medicine, an experience that significantly broadened their understanding of biology, health, and global medical practices.

During the visit, students were introduced to a variety of practices including acupuncture, cupping therapy, and a hands-on first aid training session. The first aid training covered essential life-saving skills such as bandaging, how to respond to choking incidents, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). All activities were practical and interactive, allowing students to fully immerse themselves in the learning experience.

A tour of the centre followed, where students explored an array of traditional Chinese medicinal samples, anatomical models used for cupping, and various tools including needles used in acupuncture. The staff provided insightful explanations, and the students had the opportunity to observe — and in some cases experience — treatments firsthand.

This trip proved to be a significant educational milestone, merging the students' classroom knowledge with real-world application. Beyond the scientific exposure, the visit also offered an authentic Chinese language environment, allowing students to hear and practise vocabulary in context, thus enhancing their linguistic and cultural competence.
