津大孔院首届中文教学点校长会议圆满成功

The Principals/School Heads meeting was convened at the Confucius Institute on the 25th of April 2025 to discuss various aspects of collaboration and development within the teaching and learning of Chinese Language and culture. In attendance were the Headmasters and Principals from various schools both public and private primary and secondary schools and representatives from 2 teacher training colleges. The participants were 30， all drawn from 6 provinces and 12 cities in Zimbabwe. The meeting aimed at enhancing the relationship between the Confucius Institute and its teaching sites, as well as to address key areas of development for Chinese language education. For some, if not many of the leaders, it was a familiarisation with the core functions of the CIUZ and how it fits into the education ecosystem of Zimbabwe.

This meeting was a first of its kind bringing together the CIUZ and its key stakeholders to share experiences and contribute to plans for the teaching and learning of Chinese in Zimbabwe. This event marked a significant step towards enhancing communication and strategic planning within the CI and the teaching sites establishing a platform for ongoing dialogue among stakeholders.

这次会议是津大孔院与津巴布韦各主要教学点领导的首次大聚会。校领导们齐聚孔院，为津巴布韦的中文教学献计献策，并彼此分享各自学校的中文教学历程及经验。此次会议标志着津大孔院在内部交流和战略规划方面迈出了重要的一步，并为教学点与孔院之间的交流建立了持续对话的平台。

The meeting commenced with welcome remarks from the CI Director Dr L Mukaro, emphasizing the importance of collaboration and shared goals. He gave an overview of the Institute's objectives and strategic direction for the upcoming period. The discussion on CIUZ's relationship with teaching sites focused on strengthening partnerships with various teaching sites to enhance resource sharing and support. As such plans for professional development workshops and training sessions for Chinese language teachers were agreed upon to improve teaching quality.

会议首先由津大孔院外方院长Dr L Mukaro致欢迎辞。他强调了合作和共同目标的重要性，并概述了津大孔院下一阶段的目标和战略方向。关于津大孔院与教学点关系的讨论则侧重于加强与各教学点的伙伴关系，以促进资源共享和互相支持。与会者一致同意为中文教师举办专业发展及课程培训班，以提高中文教学质量。

The meeting also discussed the competitions offered by the CIUZ which included the Chinese Character Hero and the Chinese Bridge. Dr Mukaro announced upcoming competitions aimed at promoting Chinese language learning among students. Information on available scholarships for students wishing to study in China was shared, encouraging participation by all schools present to improve the quality of language for the students. This was aimed at achieving high levels of proficiency as they competed for the Global Scholarship Award.

会议还讨论了“汉字英雄会”和“汉语桥”比赛。Dr Mukaro向校长们介绍了旨在促进学生学习中文的各项比赛的规则及奖项设置，还介绍了留学中国的奖学金设置情况，鼓励所有学校参与提高学生的语言水平，以便让学生们在竞争国际奖学金时获得更高的成绩。

The Director also discussed the Youth Chinese Test (YCT) and Hanyu Shiping Kaoshi (HSK) exams, highlighting the educational levels of the schools that ought to be teaching YCT or HSK. The administration of these international exams was also discussed, emphasising the value of student support and preparation. In order to standardise curriculum delivery across different schools, the attendees were encouraged to have relevant teaching materials.

Dr L Mukaro还介绍了青少年汉语水平考试（YCT）和汉语水平考试（HSK），强调了教授 YCT 或 HSK 的学校应具有相应的教育水平，以及这些国际化考试的相关管理问题，强调了支持学生参与考试及相关准备工作的重要性。为了使不同学校的课程教学标准化，津大孔院还鼓励各教学点准备相关的教学材料。

During the deliberations Principals/Heads shared their experiences and best practices, fostering an environment of learning and collaboration amongst all present. Networking opportunities were realised as participants established valuable connections for future collaboration enabling challenges and potential solutions to be identified, leading to actionable strategies. A commitment to ongoing dialogue as a consensus was reached on the importance of regular consultations to address evolving educational needs.

在讨论环节，校长们分享了他们各自学校的中文教学经验和做法，为所有与会者营造了一个学习与合作的环境，为今后的合作建立了宝贵的联系，明确了面临的潜在挑战和可能的解决方案，制定了可行的战略。与会者就定期磋商以满足不断变化的教育需求的重要性达成了共识，并承诺将继续开展讨论会议。

A trip to the Chinese Embassy was also part of the package, providing insights into cultural exchanges. Participants were treated to a Chinese delicacy for lunch in China Garden as they explored the Chinese food culture. It was a great and fulfilling tour for the participants as they had the opportunity to understand more about China through the guided tour within the Embassy. Participants also had time to interact with the Minister Counsellor, Mr. Cheng Yan, the Ambassador’s wife, Madam Lyu Renhong, and Embassy staff. The Counsellor did not hide his delight at hosting a huge number of educationists with the hope that the teaching of Chinese was in great hands. The Embassy gave out some presents as a token of appreciation for the visit. Sunny Yi Feng Company, a manufacturer of ceramic tiles and one of Confucius Institute’s partners gave presents to all the attendees, which was a great sign of collaboration with industry.

参观中国大使馆也是本次活动的一部分，该环节更深入地促进了文化交流。参观使馆前在华园餐厅的午餐，使得与会者在探索中国饮食文化的同时，也即此品尝了中国美食。中国大使馆的参观对他们来说是一次精彩而充实的经历，因为他们有机会通过中国驻津巴布韦大使馆安排的导览活动进一步了解中国。与会者还有时间与程岩公参、大使夫人吕仁红女士以及中国驻津巴布韦使馆的其他官员交流。程公参毫不掩饰接待众多教育界人士的喜悦之情，并希望中文教学能够得到更好的发展。参会人员在收到使馆赠送的纪念品的同时，还收到了津大孔院的合作伙伴阳光易峰公司赠送的礼物。这也是津大孔院与企业合作的一个重要标志。

The inaugural meeting between CIUZ and the teaching sites was a success, setting the stage for future engagements among CIUZ and the Teaching Sites. CIUZ is committed to facilitating ongoing discussions that will drive improvements and innovation in the educational sector. The collaborative spirit and shared commitment to enhancing Chinese language education were evident, paving the way for future initiatives and stronger relationships among educational institutions.
