“汉语桥”夏令营（2）｜一次特别的海南之行

We arrived at the Hainan hotel on April 13^th. The League of Tropical Universities Summit was held on the 14^th, where I was impressed by the global trade exchange and its potential opportunities for African countries. After the summit, we engaged in various activities, including visiting museums, agricultural sites, and participating in classroom lectures and sports.

我们于4月13日抵达海南酒店。14日，热区高校联盟峰会正式召开。全球贸易交流及其为非洲国家带来的潜在机遇给我留下了深刻印象。峰会结束后，我们参加了多项活动，包括参观博物馆和农业园，以及参加课堂讲座和体育活动。

I in particular enjoyed the Chinese painting lessons, where I learned the unique technique of using a brush with multiple colours. I also appreciated the introduction to Chinese calligraphy, although it was challenging. The experience helped me to understand the importance of this traditional form of art in Chinese culture.

我特别喜欢中国画课程，在那里我学到了使用毛笔调制多种颜色的独特技巧。我也很喜欢中国书法的介绍，尽管它颇具挑战性。这段经历帮助我理解了这项传统艺术形式在中国文化中的重要地位。

One of the highlights of our practical lessons was Chinese pottery making. Initially, I found it challenging to work with the machine, but with practice, I managed to create a bowl and a vase. This hands-on experience was my favourite classroom activity.

在我们的实践课程中，中国陶器制作是重点内容之一。起初我觉得使用机器非常有挑战性，但经过反复练习，我成功地制作出了一个碗和一个花瓶。这次亲身体验是我最喜欢的课堂活动之一。

I also had the opportunity to play table tennis, which was a fun and engaging experience. It was great to learn about this sport and its techniques through hands-on practice.

我们还打了乒乓球，这是一项非常有趣且富有参与感的活动。亲身实践学习这项运动及其技巧，令人十分兴奋。

SUMMER TIME

We were also taught two Chinese songs, “Molihua” and “My Motherland and Me” which we performed at our Gala. Additionally, we had the opportunity to showcase our own talents, which was a great experience.

我们还学习了两首中文歌曲《茉莉花》和《我和我的祖国》，并在联欢晚会上进行了表演。此外，我们还展示了个人才艺，这也是一次非常难忘的经历。

Our museum visits were equally fascinating. At the first museum, we saw the first spaceship and learned about its inventors. We also visited the Hainan Provincial Museum and Library, which was impressive for its height and collection. The museum showcased the history and culture of the Li people, including their unique boat-shaped houses and symbolic vases.

参观博物馆的活动同样令人印象深刻。在第一个博物馆里，我们看到了中国第一艘航天飞船，并了解了其发明者。我们还参观了海南省博物馆和图书馆，其建筑高度和丰富藏品都给我留下了深刻印象。博物馆还展示了黎族的历史和文化，包括他们独特的船形房屋和象征性的花瓶。

Another notable visit was to the Hainan Museum of the South Sea, where we saw a massive whale skeleton. The experience was awe-inspiring, and I was amazed by the size of the whale. I also noticed the value placed on sea shell souvenirs in Chinese culture.

另一个令人难忘的参观景点是海南南海博物馆，我们在那里看到了巨大的鲸鱼骨架。这段经历令人震撼，鲸鱼的庞大体型让我惊叹不已。我还注意到，贝壳制品在中国文化中占有重要地位。

SUMMER TIME

We also visited the Qilou Old Street, which was a world of its own, filled with lanterns, sea shells, and unique souvenirs made from shells, including beautifully designed bags.

我们还游览了骑楼老街，那里仿佛是一个自成一体的世界，到处悬挂着灯笼，陈列着海螺和用贝壳制作的独特纪念品，其中包括设计精美的包袋。

SUMMER TIME

Adapting to the local climate was also a new experience, as China’s summer is characterized by high temperatures and humidity, which can be unbearable at times. Compared to Zimbabwe, the heat and humidity were quite intense, but this uniqueness added to the cultural experience.

适应当地气候对我来说也是一次全新的体验。中国的夏季酷热潮湿，有时令人感到难以忍受。与津巴布韦相比，这里的高温和湿度更为强烈，但也正是这种独特的气候，为我的文化体验增添了特别的色彩。

Adapting to the local cuisine was also a challenge, as most dishes were spicy. However, I eventually grew to enjoy the food, and it was delicious.

适应当地饮食也是一个不小的挑战，因为大多数菜肴都偏辣。不过，我最终渐渐喜欢上了这些食物，它们的味道非常好。

Our visit to the agricultural plantation site was insightful, where we learned about coconut cultivation and its various uses, from cosmetics to food.

我们还参观了种植园，收获颇丰，了解了椰子的种植过程以及其从化妆品到食品的多种用途。

Overall, my experience in China was enriching, and I appreciate the opportunity to participate in this training. The practical lessons and cultural exposure have improved my teaching methods, and I’m grateful for the experience. I hope to have more opportunities like this in the future.

总的来说，本次中国之行内容非常丰富，我非常珍惜这次参加培训的机会。实践课程和文化交流提升了我的教学方法，对此我深表感激，也希望将来还能有更多类似的机会。

In conclusion, I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to Hainn University and the Confucius Institute at the University of Zimbabwe for providing me with this invaluable opportunity to experience Chinese culture and education. This experience has given me a new perspective on the Chinese world and has broadened my understanding of its rich history and traditions. I’m also grateful for the Institute’s efforts in promoting cultural exchange and uplifting Zimbabwe as a whole. As one of the teachers who represented Zimbabwe, I feel proud to have been part of this initiative and look forward to sharing my experiences with others. Thank you again for this life-changing opportunity.
