CAJRC hosts a blended China–Africa Civilisation Forum（2026） 中非中心成功举办2026“ 中非文明论坛 ”（线上+线下）

The China-Africa Joint Research Centre for Exchanges and Mutual Learning between Civilizations （ CAJRC&CI UZ) proudly hosted the Blended China–Africa Civilisation Forum （ 2026 ） on 17 July 2026, under the theme “Chinese and African Traditional Wisdom and Win-Win Development.” This flagship event brought together scholars, diplomats, and cultural leaders both in person and online, reaffirming University of Zimbabwe’s role as a hub for intercultural dialogue and academic collaboration.

中非文明交流互鉴合作研究中心（津大孔院） 于2026年7月17日隆重举办了2026中非文明论坛（线上 +线下） ， 主题为 " 中非传统智慧与共赢发展 " 。 这一旗舰活动汇聚了来自线上和线下的学者、外交官及文化领袖 ，进一步巩固了津巴布韦大学作为跨文化对话与学术交流中心的重要地位。

The opening session set the tone by highlighting the cultural bridge between Africa’s Ubuntu philosophy and China’s T ian Xia vision of shared destiny echoed by Dr Agness Chiwara, on behalf of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities Dean Professor Fai nos Mangena. Speakers emphasized that true development must be human centered, ethical, and cooperative, challenging narrow individualistic models. The forum was framed as a sanctuary for dialogue across diverse fields including health, economics, education, technology, agriculture, climate change, gender, and artificial intelligence.

Diplomatic remarks delivered by Mr. Pan Xiongwen, Director, Political and Press Section, Chinese Embassy in Zimbabwe, on behalf of China’s Ambassador to Zimbabwe, his Excellency Zhou Ding commended the organisers for fostering meaningful academic exchange. The address underscored the cultural affinity between Ubuntu and Confucianism as a foundation for inclusive globalisation. Case studies on Kenya’s solar industry and China’s Jinyun County offered lessons for Africa’s energy independence and ecological governance, while health related discussions were praised for strengthening people to people ties and transforming technical assistance into cultural exchange.

中国驻津巴布韦大使周鼎阁下的代表、津巴布韦中国大使馆政治新闻处主任潘雄文先生发表的外交致辞 ，对主办方促进有意义的学术交流表示赞赏。致辞强调了乌班图与儒家思想之间的文化亲和力 ，将其视为包容性全球化的基础。关于肯尼亚太阳能产业和中国缙云县的案例研究 ，为非洲能源独立和生态治理提供了借鉴； 健康领域的讨论则因加强民间联系、将技术援助转化为文化交流而倍受赞誉。

Video presentations by Dr Liao Yue and Prof Feng Jia Chinese scholars provided deep reflections on Zimbabwe’s socioeconomic and political landscape. They stressed the importance of development approaches informed by local conditions and national priorities, while drawing lessons from international experiences. Another presentation by Prof T. Sho ko explored the potential of traditional medicine and cultural heritage as catalysts for transformation, comparing Zimbabwean traditions with internationally recognised Traditional Chinese Medicine.

Breakaway sessions enriched the dialogue with diverse perspectives. In Room A, discussion by Prof Cui Shoujun examined the logic of China–Zimbabwe cooperation within the rise of the Global South, while a discussion by Dr T. Taringana explored Ubuntu–Confucian civilisation as a shared philosophy for globalisation and development. The Associate Chief Physician, Xue Lixia from the Chinese Medical Doctors also facilitated on health cooperation through a presentations that placed human dignity and compassion at the centre of international medical partnerships.

In Room B, a presentation by Dr Ma Boyang highlighted on the case study on Kenya’s solar power sector revealing both promises and limitations for Chinese renewable energy companies in Africa. Mr A. M hondera facilitated a session on ecological civilisation that drew lessons from Jinyun County’s environmental governance, offering Zimbabwe pathways to address climate change, land degradation, and biodiversity loss. Associate Chief Physician Hou Can also showcased Medical cooperation through achievements such as the establishment of the China–Zimbabwe Telemedicine Centre, Zimbabwe’s first neuromodulation surgeries, and the creation of the China–Zimbabwe Hospital in Mah usekwa. These milestones demonstrated how cultural exchange and medical benevolence can strengthen healthcare systems and build sustainable bridges between nations.

The forum concluded with key outcomes that includes the philosophical integration of Ubuntu and Confucianism, strengthened health cooperation, critical insights into renewable energy ventures, lessons for ecological sustainability, and enhanced visibility of the University of Zimbabwe’s Confucius Institute. Recommendations included institutionalising the forum annually, expanding student and faculty exchanges, and translating cultural insights into actionable policy strategies.

By advancing its theme of traditional wisdom and win-win development, the Blended China–Africa Civilisation Forum(2026) successfully reinforced diplomatic ties and charted collaborative pathways in philosophy, health, energy, and ecology. It positioned Zimbabwe as a key player in fostering China–Africa academic and cultural cooperation, while reaffirming the University of Zimbabwe’s role as a leading institution in intercultural dialogue and sustainable development.
