我和海南的初次邂逅

My first trip to China was to attend the Chinese Bridge Summer Camp that took place on April 13 and was an unforgettable experience that changed my life. We participated in so many activities and events such as classes, singing, travelling, sports and exercises. To sum up I can just say it was the best experience ever. 

这是我第一次参加“汉语桥”夏令营，也是我第一次去中国。夏令营于4月13日开始。我们参与了很多活动，比如上课、唱歌、旅行、运动和锻炼。总的来说，这真的是一次极好的经历，改变了我的人生。

On my first day in China I attended an opening ceremony that I also partake as a flag girl. I really enjoyed the ceremony because I witnessed that Zimbabwe was also honored to partake in this event showing a good relationship with China.

在我到达中国的第一天，我参加了开营仪式，并担任了仪式中的举旗手。我非常享受这场仪式，因为我见证了津巴布韦参与这一活动的荣誉，这表明了中国与津巴布韦之间的友好关系。

After the ceremony classes commenced and our first class was about writing using Chinese brushes and it was my first time to do so. My first time of holding the painting brush was very difficult but I adjusted quickly. Also for the first time I went into a canteen to eat Chinese food and the dishes were so amazing especially their burgers and mango juice. I also had the opportunity to attended Chinese speaking, China's history and culture & geography, Chinese listening, calligraphy and painting classes. I learnt a lot about Hainan and its great achievements. I experienced the daily normal life of a Chinese student like walking to the campus, learning, eating and going back to the hostel.

开营仪式结束后，我们开始上课，第一堂课是用毛笔写字，这是我第一次尝试。刚开始拿毛笔的时候非常困难，但我很快就适应了。那天我也第一次去食堂吃了中国菜，菜肴太棒了，尤其是汉堡和芒果汁。我还上了中文口语课、中国历史文化与地理课、中文听力课、书法与国画课。我学到了很多关于海南的知识，也了解了它所取得的伟大成就。我体验了中国学生的日常生活，比如走路去校园、上课、吃饭然后回宿舍。

Travelling to different places was also another exciting event of my visit. It was an interesting tour that involved visiting places like Hainan Provincial Museum where we saw rockets and space ships, the provincial library in Hainan and Boao Dongyu Island which was so mesmerizing. The coffee plantation was also another exciting place, with the coffee production machines installed at the plantation. I had an opportunity to see the production process and getting to test the delicious coffee. We also went to a rural area of Gionghai, and this village had lots of coconut trees, chickens and other farm productions, where I ate a delicious hot pot for the first time. 

旅行参观也是这次访问中另一项令人兴奋的活动。我们参观了很多地方，比如海南省博物馆，在那里我们看到了火箭和宇宙飞船；还去了海南省图书馆和博鳌东屿岛，那里非常迷人。我们还参观了咖啡种植园，园区里安装了咖啡生产设备，我有机会亲眼看到咖啡的制作过程，并且品尝了美味的咖啡。我们还去了琼海的一个乡村，那里的村庄有很多椰子树、鸡以及其他农产品，我也在那里第一次吃到了美味的火锅。

We also visited Boao Forum for Asia Annual Conference, Hainan Museum of the South China Sea and China digital exhibition hall in Jiangdong and on these places I learned a lot about China's history, creatures found in the sea and also how Hainan is rapidly developing in terms of trading and technology. I also had a life changing experience in Boai where we spent our time with the children and we had fun exchanging greetings and singing. We also visited a nearby temple and it was my first time being in a temple.

我们还参观了博鳌亚洲论坛年会会址、南海博物馆以及位于江东的中国数字展览馆，在这些地方我学到了很多关于中国历史、海洋生物，并了解到了海南在贸易和科技方面的发展情况。在博爱村的经历让我感触很深，我们在那里和小朋友们一起玩耍、聊天、唱歌，度过了一段愉快的时光。我们还参观了附近的一座寺庙，那也是我第一次走进寺庙。

I also attended a Chinese singing Class which was fun and in the evening we had an event where I participated with other students showcasing our talents. We actually had fun because we interacted with the Hainan students.

我还参加了中文歌曲课，课上非常有趣。晚上，我们还有一个才艺展示活动，我和其他学生一起表演，展示各自的才艺。我们玩得非常开心，还与海南的学生有了交流互动。

We also had an exercising session at the field ground in the evening were we did warm ups and Jogged. The experience was so magical and refreshing. We also went to the other ground where we were welcomed warmly with other students and we did many activities together and it brought unity and a sense of belonging.  

晚上我们还在操场上参加了锻炼活动，做了热身运动和慢跑。这段经历非常美妙和新颖。我们还去了另一个场地，受到那里学生们的热情欢迎，我们一起参加了很多活动，这带来了团结和归属感。 

I also played pingpangqiu which was one of the sports that was on my bucket list and it was a dream come true. It was so refreshing and it was a life turning point as we make interactions with other students.

我还打了乒乓球。乒乓球是我梦想中的一项运动，如今终于实现，我感觉非常新颖，也成为了我人生的一个转折点，因为我借此机会与其他学生建立了联系。

Making dumplings on my final day was the best part of all. This was my first time making them and the eating part was an extra bonus. I made different dumplings some with veggies and some with meat.

在最后一天，我亲手包了饺子，这是我此行中最喜欢的部分。这是我第一次包饺子，吃饺子更是意料之外的惊喜。我包了各种各样的饺子，有蔬菜馅的，也有肉馅的。

All I can say is I was really honored to be given this golden opportunity and not also forgetting the teachers and student volunteers who were willing to help and accommodate us. I would also like to extend my gratitude to the Chinese government, Confucius Institute, Hainan University and the University of Zimbabwe. 

最后我想说，我非常荣幸能获得这次宝贵的机会。同时，我也要感谢那些愿意帮助和接纳我们的老师和学生志愿者们。我还要向中国政府、孔子学院、海南大学和津巴布韦大学致以诚挚的感谢。
